It’s 3:30pm and I just sat down to eat lunch. A salad. Because I am trying to do better. Trying to “get back on track.” And I SHOULD be drinking a huge cup of water but instead my salad is paired with a huge Bojangles sweet tea that I stopped to grab on my way home from the grocery store.

It’s 4:30ish and the baby is napping. I SHOULD be doing laundry, mopping the floors, or cleaning the bathroom. But instead I am dreaming up blog posts, scrolling Instagram, and listening to a podcast.

How many times have you heard or used the word SHOULD today? My house SHOULD look like this or that. My child SHOULD be sleeping through the night. Or even I SHOULD NOT feel this way. I SHOULDN'T eat this entire pint of ice cream, but I probably will.

My point is these “SHOULDS” and “SHOULDN’TS” we tell ourselves or hear from other mamas are not motivating or inspiring positivity instead they are breeding negativity and typically leave us feeling less than we deserve.

We have been doing this throughout every stage of our life so no wonder we are doing it in motherhood....
